Canadian national point-guard Philip Dickson will give Seapower an added edge when the former champions seek their first title in three years in the Seapower Invitation Cup at the MacPherson Stadium later this month.
The six-foot-five Toronto-based Dickson will bring a wealth of experience to the team, who will also be boosted by star players Mark Hutton and Albert Johnson.
Seapower team manager John Shum was confident his team would regain the title they last won in 1995.
Regal, who will also defend their title at the Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC) tournament in Kuala Lumpur later this month, have won the Seapower Invitation Cup for two straight years.
But Shum feels their domination will end. 'We're confident we will regain the trophy because Dickson is a very good point-guard and he will be a welcome addition to our team. Height is one of our strengths and with six-foot-eleven Johnson, we may have the edge,' he said.
'Dickson plays in the Continental Basketball Association for Toronto. Hopefully, he will blend with the other team members.'
