THE election watchdog will investigate the claim that a pro-Beijing candidate used an official body to distribute election-related material, its chairman said yesterday. Mr Justice Woo Kwok-hing said the Electoral Affairs Commission would investigate the case, which was disclosed in the South China Morning Post. John Tse Si-yin, a pro-Beijing candidate in the Information Technology functional constituency, had junior staff at the Office of the Telecommunications Authority send about 50 faxes to potential voters, urging them to claim voting rights in the sector. 'So far, no one has complained to me,' Mr Justice Woo said. He added he would investigate whether Mr Tse knew about the sending of the faxes.
