About 1,200 school heads and school representatives attended an Education Department seminar on managing changes in the IT era.
A spokesman for the department said schools were facing new challenges with the implementation of a computerised school management system and the promotion of IT in teaching.
To help school heads cope with managing these changes, the department organised the seminar at Hong Kong Baptist University.
Guest speakers were Professor Chung Yue-ping, dean of the Faculty of Education at Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Lai Yiu-chi, from the Hong Kong Institute of Education.
Professor Chung, who has done extensive research in education policy and planning, focused on educational resources and school effectiveness.
Mr Lai, who is involved in teacher training, explained how schools could use the IT resources provided by the Education Department to enhance the effectiveness in school management.
