More than 6,000 senior citizens spent a busy afternoon in Kowloon Park doing tai-chi, dancing and being generally sociable and active. The hive of activity was to mark the launch of a Recreation and Sports Fortnight for Older Persons. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Provisional Urban Councillor San Stephen Wong Hon-ching said the fortnight for the elderly had been a success for the past four years. Committed to the 'sport-for-all' concept, the event aimed to encourage the elderly to take up regular exercise. 'This year we want to promote wellness among senior citizens through regular exercise and a balanced diet,' Mr Wong said.
