Super Bomb looks positioned to win today's eighth event on what promises to be a good betting day at Sha Tin.
The John Moore-trained sprinter has form in Class One at his best and appears to have slipped to an attractive and competitive handicap rating of 83 and is one of only three horses taking the voluntary demotion to contest what is an average Class Two 1,200-metre event.
For much of this season Super Bomb has, admittedly, been out of form - hence his slip in the ratings. But then many of Moore's team have not run well and, as a trainer, he habitually doesn't hit top gear until the latter stages of each season.
Now that Super Bomb seems to be running back into form, a measure of his attractive position in the handicap scale is that his last win came from a mark of 95 against predominantly Class One sprinters. On that occasion he had a head to spare over Super Team, half a length over Feel Legend with Engineman fourth.
Super Bomb did cause late interference on that evening but it was not deemed enough to affect the result and the placings remained unaltered, despite an objection from the Glen Boss-ridden Engineman.
But by any stretch of the imagination, Super Bomb is now positioned to win, especially as he put the writing on the wall last time out.
