THE Hong Kong Alliance in Support of the Patriotic Democratic Movement in China is to try to get Tung Chee-hwa to let newly released mainland dissident Wang Dan visit Hong Kong during the anniversary of the June 4 Tiananmen Square killings.
The alliance has sent a delegate to New York to discuss the visit with Mr Wang.
Once the activist's willingness to come had been ascertained, talks with the Chief Executive and probably a campaign for his entry would be launched, group spokesman Cheung Man-kwong said yesterday.
'Anyway, Mr Wang will appear at the June 4 candle-light vigil on video or in person,' he said.
The Secretary for Security, Peter Lai Hing-ling, refused to comment on individual applications.
He said the administration would handle general applications based on the Basic Law and the Immigration Ordinance.
