A total of 170 secondary school students received scholarships worth $340,000 from a trust fund set up by Hongkong Electric. Managing director Tso Kai-sum presented the awards at a ceremony. The Hongkong Electric Centenary Trust was established in 1990 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the power company. Since then, the fund has been giving out scholarships each year. More than 1,100 students have benefitted so far. The scholarship scheme is implemented with the support of the Government Student Financial Assistance Agency.
