Deal for bus staff

China Motor Bus unionists have struck a deal with New World First Bus on terms and conditions for CMB workers when the new franchisee takes over in September.

Staff salaries will range from $6,900 a month for an assistant technician to $12,500 for an inspector.

Drivers with five years' experience will receive about $10,500 and there will be a month's bonus for all staff at the end of the year.

Other benefits include subsidies for education of employees' children and medical fees. Retirement age is set at 65.

The terms are subject to review in September.

First Bus will take on all CMB drivers, inspectors, and clerical staff, more than 580 technicians and 40 per cent of accounts department staff.
