RECREATION and Culture Branch Secretary Mr James So Yiu-cho will announce plans tomorrow for a major shake up of Hongkong's broadcasting legislation. In a keynote address to an international television conference being held in the territory, Mr So said he would unveil plans for a Broadcasting Ordinance that was likely to be tabled during the next Legislative Council session. The territory's broadcast, satellite, planned pay TV stations and radio stations would all come under the ordinance, now in the final stages of planning. It will replace the Television and Broadcasting Authority Ordinances and those parts of the Telecommunications Ordinance relating to broadcasting.
