The most promising youth players in the second running of the Nike All-Hong Kong Basketball League, which starts in July, will be sent to an all- expenses paid trip overseas. The Hong Kong Basketball Association will pick the best players and send them for overseas training at a yet-to-be decided city. Enrolment in the league, which was such a success last year, will open from next Monday. Due to the overwhelming support last year, organisers have introduced a women's tournament this year. The league is open to youths aged 19 and under. Organisers said as like last year, successful candidates will be eligible for trials and finalists will be put into teams for the league. Nike Hong Kong managing director Adam Koo Tze-cheung said the tournament was a good way to select the best young players and provide them with the proper training so they can eventually form the backbone of Hong Kong's senior squad.
