Horse trainer Brian Kan Ping-chee has decided to soften his stance on avoiding publicity. But the non-affiliated candidate in the New Territories East said he would not go as far as attending public forums. 'I am not interested in quarrelling with others. It's meaningless,' Mr Kan, 60, said. He was persuaded to put up billboards in the constituency by Heung Yee Kuk chairman Lau Wong-fat. 'Mr Lau advised me that I have to show respect to voters by erecting election billboards on the streets. He even offered to fund them,' Mr Kan said. 'To show my respect to voters, I accepted the advice.' Mr Kan, who is also the chairman of Sheung Shui Rural Committee, is running on an independent ticket despite being a member of the kuk's executive committee.
