Pop singers give Girl Guides a rousing concert and a pledge to help the movement

ACONCERT treat to reward more than 3,000 Girl Guides for their hard work in selling raffle tickets ended up as a treat for Hongkong residents and cancer-stricken children as well.

The Girl Guides Concert, held recently at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wan Chai, was attended by more than 3,000 guides and children from the Cancer Foundation together with their parents.

The concert featured 10 local pop singers and was broadcast live over radio.

Lady Akers-Jones, chief commissioner of the Hongkong Girl Guides Association, said the concert was a first for encouraging guides to sell raffle tickets.

Artists taking part were Andy Hui Chi-on, Alex To Tak-wai, Aaron Kwok Fu-shing, Dicky Cheung Wai-kin, Lui Fong, Choi Chai-man, Shirley Kwan Shuk-yee, Sandy Lam Yik-lin, Sally Yeh and Grasshopper.

The singers, who made an appearance at a recent press conference to announce the concert, expressed support for the show and the guiding movement for its service to the community.
