The Peninsula's Chinese restaurant, Spring Moon, closes at the end of May for a three-month makeover that will restore all the tradition and the glory of the 1920s.

The restaurant re-opens on September 1, complete with the type of wood panelling, stained glass, Art Deco touches and Frank Lloyd Wright highlights that were part of the original design of 1928 - the year the hotel opened.

A tea counter is also being planned, with more than 40 Chinese varieties.

The revamp is being overseen by local designer Kenneth Ko with the Spring Moon renovation forming part of The Pen's 70th anniversary celebrations.

Bar scene Bar of the moment is From Dusk Till Dawn next to Rick's Cafe in Wan Chai. Filled with the football crowd, the pub is, apparently, everything you could want from a heaving hole-in-the-wall with great live music, and is a good escape from the strobe lights of the nightclub scene.
