Henderson Land Development will soon announce details of an investment plan to strengthen its non-property earnings.
Chairman Lee Shau-kee, in an exclusive interview, said Henderson Land was looking around the world for investments that would have a higher return than property development.
Details would be announced soon.
However, Mr Lee stressed that he was not worried about the impact of the regional crisis on his firm's property earnings, which account for almost 80 per cent of the company's profits.
Apart from its core property interests, Henderson Land owns about 56 per cent of mainland property developer Henderson China and about 64 per cent of Henderson Investment.
Through Henderson Investment, it has stakes in Hong Kong and China Gas, Hong Kong Ferry (Holdings) and Miramar Hotel & Investment Co.
