An army truck and a car collided at a busy Kowloon Tong junction yesterday morning, paralysing traffic for more than an hour. The smash happened shortly after 10.30 am as the PLA vehicle and the car, in different westbound lanes of Junction Road, were turning right into Waterloo Road. The truck, carrying planks, was believed to be from nearby Osborn Barracks. The motorist, Kam Fung-chi, 42, was on her way to work. The two PLA officers in the truck and Ms Kam were not injured but the road was not cleared until noon. Officers from West Kowloon Accident Investigation Division were investigating the accident, thought to be the fifth reported PLA traffic accident since the handover. A police spokeswoman said it was a minor traffic accident and police would follow usual procedures to deal with it. A PLA spokesman was unavailable for comment.
