Democratic Party chairman Martin Lee Chu-ming denied yesterday he had ever urged the pre-handover government not to leave a penny for the SAR. At a forum in Chai Wan, Mr Lee said the accusation had twice been made by his rival, Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong vice-chairman Gary Cheng Kai-nam. Mr Lee had asked Mr Cheng to state in writing when he had supposedly made the remark, but had received no reply. The Liberal Party's Ada Wong Ying-kay asked whether Citizens Party chairman Christine Loh Kung-wai had been deserted by ally Anna Wu Hung-yuk, who has pledged support to non-affiliated Chong Chan-yau. Ms Loh said Ms Wu was still an ally.
