Two teenagers have won a dream trip to Britain, thanks to their creative writing skills.
Sixth-former Chow Pui-yee of Wa Ying College, 18, and third-former Lee Yee-kwan of Our Lady of the Rosary College, 15, won first prize in the Longman English Competition in the Senior and Junior sections, respectively.
Co-organised by Longman, the British Council and Young Post, the competition opened in March.
Fifty finalists were then selected from about 300 entries to write an essay of exactly 98 words in one hour on the topic: The Year of the Tiger.
The two win a return ticket to Britain and a three-week English course at the Bell Language School in Cambridge, with all accommodation paid, plus holiday money.
The prizes are worth $30,000 each.
A thrilled Pui-yee said she had always liked Britain and its culture and had read a lot about the country.
