Hong Kong's 4 x 100 metres record-breaking relay team will compete in this weekend's Brand's Cup international meet in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Chan Chin-wan, To Wai-lok, Tang Hon-sing and Chiang Wai-hung broke the Hong Kong men's 4 x 100 metres relay record twice in as many months in the second and third round of the Watson's Athletic King Championship. The team set the Hong Kong record of 41.27 seconds earlier this month, eclipsing their previous best by 0.13 seconds. The relay team are competing in the Kaohsiung meet to warm up for meets like the Asian Athletic Championships in July and Asian Games in Bangkok in December. Joining the team in Taiwan are men's middle distance runner Leung Tat-wai and Hong Kong women's triple jump record holder, Li Chun-nei. The Hong Kong team's participation in Kaohsiung is sponsored by Watson's Water, who backs the Sports Development Board track and field elite training programme. Watson's Water has also established an incentive scheme to reward outstanding athletes. Athletes will be awarded $20,000 for every gold medal they win. Silver and bronze medals will be worth $12,000 and $8,000, respectively.
