A PANEL of High Court jurors got an unexpected taste of ''imprisonment'' yesterday when they adjourned for lunch - and found themselves locked in.
The jury of six men and one woman had been empanelled to hear a robbery case, when Deputy Judge Yeung adjourned the trial at 1 pm.
They were led from the court through a special door to the jury waiting room. The judge, the public and the defendants all use separate entrances.
By the time the jury realised the outer door of the waiting room was locked, the court was in darkness and the public entrance had also been locked.
When counsel and the judge returned from lunch at 2.30 pm they were surprised to find the jury still there.
Mr Justice Yeung took pity on the seven and adjourned the case, giving them the afternoon off to take a belated break.
