Hip clothing, beepers, credit cards - today's youths are embracing materialism as no generation before.

It is a generation without dreams, without love.

Money, money and more money - this is a typical teenage dream.

This reflects in every way, starting with education.

In the past the school used to be a place to acquire real knowledge, but now education is all about scoring high marks and mastering the technique of passing examinations.

My little sister, my gauge of this generation's values, says the only way to get good results is by joining a tutorial centre. But my father insists only hard work will bring good results.
