Hong Kong's Yung Kam-wah is keeping his fingers crossed that illness will not affect his chance to play in the FILA-ABC All-Star Extravaganza, which tips off on Thursday in Taipei. Yung, who leaves for the Taiwanese city this morning, stayed in bed yesterday because of influenza. 'I felt unwell when I woke up in the morning. Then I went to see the doctor and did not go to work. I want to rest well and hopefully I will be okay when I arrive in Taipei,' said the 26-year-old point guard. 'I am very happy that I have been selected to the All-Star Team again. I hope I can recover in time.' The Regal player was also selected for last year's Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC) All-Star Team, who lost to hosts South Korea in the first All-Star Extravaganza. Yung, a three-point expert, finished second on the three-point scorers' table in the Asian Championship last September. He has also had a spell with the Taiwanese professional side Mars. The ABC All-Stars first play the the Taiwan Basketball Association All-Stars on Thursday evening at Taipei Municipal Gymnasium, then meet the Taiwanese national side on Friday night at the same venue. The 15-strong ABC All-Star team include Asia's top guard, Kang Dong-hee, who was last year's Most Valuable Player, his South Korean national teammates Moon Kyung-eun, Seo Jang-hoon and Chun Hee-chul, Japan's Michael Takahashi, who was named the Most Valuable Player of last year's Asian Championship, and 2.32-metre-tall centre Ri Myong-hun from North Korea. 'It will be a great learning opportunity for me playing with the top players in the region,' said Yung. 'I am in good form as my club have had quite a number of games lately.' The mainland Chinese players, including towering centre Wang Zhizhi and forward Hu Weidong have failed to join the All-Star Team because of visa problems. Some of the greatest NBA players, coached by the legendary Oscar 'Big O' Robertson, will compete in a four-game series against China in October. The American squad consist of members of the National Basketball Retired Players Association and the team list will be named closer to the tour, scheduled for October 16 to 18 in Shanghai, October 20 in Hefei and October 23 in Beijing.
