Loansharks put bite on staff

Correctional Services and Regional Services staff were among 320 who borrowed from loansharks at rates of up to 1,100 per cent a year.

Police said a syndicate operating in public housing estates in Kwun Tong, Wong Tai Sin, Tsing Yi, Tsuen Wan and Tuen Mun charged $800 every 10 days on a $4,000 loan. It had loans worth $1.5 million outstanding.
