EAC disposal a $22m loss

THE East Asiatic Company (Hongkong)'s disposal of its transport agency business will result in a minimum extraordinary loss of $22 million for this financial year, say the directors.

The loss stems largely from redundancy compensation, lost rental deposits, continued rental payments on buildings housing the aborted operations and losses taken on the value of fixed assets.
