A cook who saw his boss' chopped hand lying on the floor of his restaurant fled back into the kitchen, a court heard yesterday. Chan Yuen-fat, 32, told the Court of First Instance yesterday he had stayed in the kitchen of the Sang Kee (Fan Suen) restaurant in Tuen Mun on April 19, 1996, after masked men ambushed it targeting 38-year-old businessman Chow Mei. Witness reports estimate between three and six people wearing balaclavas and carrying machetes burst into the restaurant. When Mr Chan first looked out of the kitchen, he saw the hand lying by the door, he said. 'I was very, very frightened,' he said. On venturing out a second time, he said the hand was in a plastic dish on a food trolley. Shum Kin-wing, 36, has pleaded not guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The trial continues.
