Fenella Ng Kar-loc will attempt to assess her progress towards the Asian Games when she takes to the water at the opening leg of the World Cup in Munich today.
Ng, who is being tipped as a genuine gold medal contender at December's Bangkok Games, arrived in Germany with coach Chris Perry yesterday.
Although Ng will be up against some of the strongest opposition in world rowing, the talented lightweight singles sculler is not daunted.
Last year she announced her entrance as a rower of real potential when she finished seventh in the World Championship in Aiguebelette, and a similar performance in Munich is quite possible.
Coach Perry is optimistic Ng's impressive development can continue. 'The opposition and the standard is high but Fenella will have the confidence to do well after the way she performed at the World Championships last year,' he said.
Twelve teams have entered Ng's event, with the main challenge likely to come from Germany and Denmark.
