David Bowie

Elvin wong chi-chung assistant channel manager at Cable's YMC channel, host of FM Select's Chi-chung's Choice, author, and the vocalist and lyricist with Endeavour. Wong is a passionate promoter of local rock bands and last year persuaded David Bowie to sing A FLeeting Moment in Putonghua.

Favourite book: The Unbearable Lightness Of Being by Milan Kundera which I bought after watching the film. It was so moving, I underlined all the good bits and kept it in my school bag for two years.

Magazine: Q is my music bible. And I've just discovered The Passion, a new British lifestyle magazine which comes with a 16-track CD of groovy sounds. Check it out on www.thepassion.co.uk.

Film: My Life As A Dog, a Scandanavian film about a boy dealing with the death of his mother. I have never cried so much in a movie. It inspired me to write a book about my childhood, Chi Chung's Stories.

CD: This is so hard. If I had to pick something to take to a desert island, it would be Weather Box, a collection of David Sylvian's best albums. I also love Let It Come Down by the Smashing Pumpkins.

Car: The Ford Ka. It's so cute; I bought one mainly because it comes in purple.

Place in Hong Kong to take a guest: I like to take guests to my ancestral home in a 200-year-old Sha Tin village and give them roast pigeon.

Method of keeping fit: Playing ball games. My favourite is football. I have been a striker since school days and can still score.

Way to spend a Sunday: I sleep all day and then go to CR2 where I host a late-night radio show playing ambiance music.

Holiday destination: London, London, London! The street culture gives me inspiration. And I love Britain's summer music festivals, like Glastonbury, where I have met people like David Bowie and Jarvis Cocker.

Scent: Lavender, particularly the oil and scented stones from Virgin Vie on Oxford Street, London.

Cosmetic product: I am a Clinique man, but have also recently tried Issey Miyake's cologne and face moisturiser.

Accessory: My Guess shades are my trademark. And anything purple.

Hairdresser: Tom Tsang from Headquarter for the past 10 years - he is now in London working for Trevor Sorbie, but I still get my hair cut by him if I'm there.

Meal: Anything cooked by my girlfriend.

Restaurant: Tai Ping Koon in Tsim Sha Tsui where white-haired waiters serve Western food with a Chinese flavour. It is more than 80 years old.

Alcoholic drink: A Chilean red wine, Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon 1993. I also like beer such as Stella Artois, Grolsch, and bitter or Guinness if I'm in England.

Shop: The Monitor record store in Astor Plaza, Yaumatei is my lifeline. It sells rare record labels, books, magazines, T-shirts and limited-edition CDs.

Artist: David Bowie, David Sylvian and film director, Derek Jarman, who is also a painter and a poet.

Designer: Paul Smith for fashion. I also like David Carson, the revolutionary graphic designer behind American magazine Ray Gun, and the 23 envelope graphic-design team at music label 4AD for their dreamy style and colours.

Person: My mum and my girlfriend.
