Hong Kong head coach Sebastiao Araujo is still awaiting the Hong Kong Football Association's (HKFA) approval to take the under-23 squad on a one-month training camp to Brazil at the end of this month.
While the clock is ticking, Araujo has picked a 26-strong squad for the first phase of training, which is scheduled to start next Monday.
According to sources, Araujo's list includes 13 players who competed in last October's China National Games in Shanghai.
The other 13 players come from the First Division, including Instant-Dict midfielder Yiu Hok-man, who missed the National Games through a contract dispute involving his club and Happy Valley.
Araujo is preparing the squad for the 2000 Sydney Olympics qualifiers, which start early next year.
Araujo spent the whole day at the HKFA headquarters yesterday hoping to meet chairman Victor Hui Chun-fui, but Hui did not show up.
