This was after our Financial Secretary announced a cable car to the great Buddha on Lantau would solve the tourism downturn problem.

I was further encouraged to hear our society was free of property speculators and property was ready to boom again. Commenting on the hordes who showed up for the Tsing Yi flats sale at the weekend, Acting Financial Secretary Rafael Hui Si-yan and Cheung Kong deputy chairman Li Tzar-kuoi noted these punters were 99.9 per cent users, not speculators.

An extraordinary insight, to say the least.

Neither, I suppose, does our community like betting on the horses.
