Book prizes for young leaders
Hong Kong's future leaders were recognised by the local American community at a ceremony.
Students from 19 schools and universities were given extra time to bask in glory when they received the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Charitable Foundation Prize Book Award.
The annual awards single out students who combine excellence in studies with achievement in other fields.
The trustees select an appropriate book to present each winner, along with a cheque for $1,000.
The book chosen for this year's award was Daniel Boorstin's trilogy - The Americans, which chronicles the US history.
Tom King, the foundation's trustee, said the awards recognised students' accomplishments and their potential to become leaders in the community.
Addressing the winners, he said: 'Many of you may continue your studies in American universities, many of you may start your careers working for American companies, hopefully in Hong Kong.
