Footwear and beverage business Prime Success International plans to expand its mainland operations and is considering setting up a production facility in Shanghai, managing director Chen Hsien-min said. In addition, Mr Chen said six coffee shops would be built in Shanghai in August, one of which would be 'the largest coffee shop in the world'. The 10,000-square-foot cafe would seat 465 people, costing about $4.8 million yuan (about HK$4.46 million). The group plans to open 200 cafes in the mainland by 2005. Mr Chen said the company would concentrate more on its shoe-retailing business in China. He said the company intended to increase revenue from retailing to 70 per cent from 50 per cent. Revenue from wholesaling would decrease from 50 per cent to 30 per cent, he said. He estimated the company would have 800 retail outlets in the mainland by the end of the year, of which 150 would be speciality shops with the remainder franchised out.
