A bogus offer to try out the impotence drug Viagra is being used to tempt people into ringing premium-rate phone lines.
An advertisement has been placed in newspapers claiming 'a large organisation' is recruiting men and women 'to test the real effect' of the drug.
But callers instead find themselves listening to a woman offering 'fun' before being referred to another line to leave their weight, height and contact numbers. Calls are charged at international rates.
No details of the 'clinical trial' or the source of the drug was disclosed.
A Department of Health spokesman said the chief pharmacist had been alerted and follow-up action would be taken.
While SAR registration of Viagra was in progress, anyone currently possessing the drug would face prosecution.
