A Guangdong Border Defence Bureau launch sails into Victoria Harbour for the first time.
The launch was one of three carrying 171 mainland officers which set sail from Shekou, passing under Tsing Ma Bridge on the way to Marine Police headquarters in Sai Wan Ho. The mainlanders toured the headquarters and training rooms and lunched with dozens of local police.
'The visit bears not only an historical significance, it also turns over a new leaf in our co-operation,' Marine Regional Commander Assistant Commissioner Spencer Foo Tsun-kong said. 'Frontline officers can also exchange their work experiences.' He said his officers were planning to visit the Guangdong force next month to enhance their joint responsibility in the crackdown against crime at sea.
