Teenager Wong Wai-hang lives to fight another day after nearly toppling Faheem Khan in the men's individual squash championship finals of the Head Hong Kong Closed Championships.

Wai-hang got off to a blistering start when he led 7-0 in the first game. But Khan's experience showed in the end as the 29-year- old Pakistani carved a 9-7, 9-1, 8- 10, 9-4 victory at the Hong Kong Squash Centre.

'I thought I had a chance of beating him but he proved too good today,' said 19-year-old Wai-hang, who reached his first Hong Kong Closed final.

'I started the match quickly and I wanted to finish it quickly, but my plans backfired in the end.

'I was too confident going into the final because I had beaten Jackie Lee [Chun-kit] in the semi-finals,' he said.

Wai-hang earned praise from Khan, who said his opponent played 'very well'. He was sure Wai-hang would win one day if he continued playing well.
