Chinese nuclear missiles are not targeted at the United States, Beijing's ambassador to the US said yesterday. Li Zhaoxing denied reports from American intelligence sources that China had weapons aimed at most major US cities. 'There is nothing of the sort that I know of,' said Mr Li. At the National Press Club in Washington, Mr Li refused to comment on suggestions that President Bill Clinton might visit relatives of victims of the 1989 crackdown on pro-democracy supporters during his trip to China. A delegation of senior American officials, including White House aide Sandra Kristoff, was due to arrive in China today for further negotiations concerning Mr Clinton's visit.
