A jilted fiance claims his girlfriend stole his heart, then tried to take his money and home after she left him.
Tam Wah-yan's former bride-to-be left Hong Kong, broke off her engagement to Mr Tam and then tried to evict him from 'his flat', according to a High Court writ filed yesterday.
In early 1987, Mr Tam and the mother of Ivy Chow Lai-fong, his fiancee, applied to the Housing Authority to buy a property under the Home Ownership Scheme.
The couple planned to marry once the application was approved, the writ said.
When they were notified of their success, Ms Chow selected a flat in Tsing Yi.
Mr Tam's mother-in-law to be, Wong Shui-ching, lent the couple $20,000, and the two also made equal contributions to the first deposit, Mr Tam claims.
The flat was bought in Ms Chow's name.
