The decision to allow provisional legislators two weeks to clear their offices after their term ends on June 30 has been attacked.

Barrister Margaret Ng Ngoi-yee, elected to the legal functional constituency on May 24, said she had to delay plans to set up an office because of the arrangement.

'That's very unreasonable because provisional legislators have got nothing to do now,' she said.

The interim body's last full sitting was in early April.

'The secretariat said we could claim reimbursement [after July] for the office set-up in June. But how can we set things up in the absence of an office?' Ms Ng asked. 'The arrangements by the administration are a bit confusing.' Ms Ng was also dissatisfied that government rooms would not be allocated for occupation until July 15.

The provisional legislature secretariat eventually allocated her a room on a temporary basis although she has to be allocated another room on July 15.
