Over the last three decades, Lingnan College has made significant progress in providing quality education for the younger generation of Hong Kong.
We owe much of our success to the commitment and support of the Lingnan community as well as the community at large. We have come a long way from being a private post-secondary college operating in a few classrooms to a unique tertiary institution set in a spacious and prestigious campus in Tuen Mun.
At age 30, Lingnan is embarking on further developments, aspiring to build itself into a world- class liberal arts university.
Our mission of liberal arts education seeks to develop all-round qualities and capacities in students in an age of rapid technological innovation and ever-changing socio-economic structure. It also aims to preserve the spiritual basis of humanity against a growing tide of gross materialism.
We perceive education as the nurturing of intellectuals with inner resources competent to meet the changing conditions and unexpected challenges of life, yet with the humanity and wisdom to find self-realisation in the service of humankind.
As president of Lingnan, I am delighted to see that our distinctive niche in tertiary education is gradually accepted and supported by the Government and the public.
