An eerie painting of a cluster of heads that gave rise to superstitious fears following the New Year Lan Kwai Fong tragedy was last night auctioned off for $6,000. The piece, which had been hanging on display above the scene where 21 people were crushed to death, was bought by the 97 Group's Miss Nichole Garnaut, pictured above with the painting's creator, Osbert Lam Sai-cheong. Miss Garnaut said the painting would be put on display inside the bar of 1997. The auction raised more than $240,000 for scholarships for local artists.
