FOR the second consecutive year the South China Morning Post has claimed the majority of awards in the annual Newspaper Society of Hongkong photo competition. Of the nine awards - three each in the news, sports and features categories - the Post took five places. There were 209 entries from Hongkong's leading newspapers. won the top prize in the news section. K. Y. Cheng took second place in both the news and sport categories, John Lehmann captured the third place positions in the same categories and Robert Ng took third place in the features category. Post and Sunday Post photographers also took seven honourable mentions. Martin Chan of the daily and Paul Lakatos from the Sunday paper were mentioned in the news category. In Sports, Cheng and Lakatos received mention, and in features Lakatos and Lehmann were recognised. Other winners were Tse Tak-wah, who was first in the sports category, Chiu Hon-wing was the winner and Oliver Tsang second place in the features division. The winners will receive $5,000 cash coupons and $5,000 worth of Kodak photographic products.
