Secondary students are expressing a growing interest in accounting.
This was evident by the numbers of teachers who packed a forum to learn how to equip SAR's young people for the task of making the big break.
About 60 career masters and accounting teachers from 53 secondary schools joined the forum organised by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Divided into two sections, the forum outlined the qualifications and career prospects for would-be accountants.
Fion Yip Wei-lee, head of Hong Kong and China Affairs of the association's Hong Kong branch, told delegates she was happy to see such a good turnout of teachers.
'This shows they are concerned about their students' future career development, especially in the light of the recent financial turmoil.' The teachers were keen to find out more about the growing demand for qualified accountants and career opportunities in the profession.
