The Hong Kong Economic Forum will bring to town a host of leading economic thinkers and academics whom the organisers believe will be able to provide ideas with which to dig the economy out of its rut.
Hong Kong Policy Research Institute chairman Paul Yip Kwok-wah said while the event was not organised as a reaction to the economic crisis, it had since gained timely relevance.
'Seven or eight months ago, when we sat down to figure out an event we could hold around the first year anniversary of the SAR's return to mainland rule . . . an economic forum seemed to hold the most relevance for Hong Kong,' he said.
The forum, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on June 29-30, will be co-hosted by the Policy Research Institute and the Trade Development Council.
