If you are interested in improving your cooking skills, get a few tips from the chefs at the Avenue Restaurant and Bar in the Holiday Inn Golden Mile.

Pastry chef Claude Lamarche, who worked in London at Michelin three-star restaurant Aubergine, is holding a dessert class on June 26. Students will learn to make fruit soup with coconut sorbet, chocolate flan tartlet and panacotta with poached fruits.

On July 10, Avenue chef Tim Powell, previously from one-star Michelin restaurant the Canteen, is teaching starters and main courses, including roast tomato soup with pesto croutons and grilled tuna Nicoise.

Central has yet another new wine shop. Watson's 1st Wine Cellar, on the corner of Queen's Road Central and D'Aguilar Street, opened on Monday.

The 2,000-square-foot store carries wines from 21 countries, with more than 1,000 varieties, 400 of which are exclusive to the store. Jeanette Paterson, the store's public relations and wine liaison manager, says prices range from $49 to $10,000, with the majority of bottles between $79 and $179. She says they hope to have three or four stores by the end of the year. Call the store on 2147-3640.

City'super in Times Square is offering personalised wine labels. Customers can choose from four labels, which can be personalised to celebrate anything from a birthday or anniversary to the opening of a store.
