Healthwise is a community support centre providing free, comprehensive, current and confidential health-care information to the public.
Founded by Dr Lucy Lord, the centre is in the grounds of the Matilda Hospital on the Peak, and was opened only 10 months ago by Betty Tung, the Chief Executive's wife.
Dr Lord said Healthwise was set up because there was an information gap between what patients needed and what doctors could provide.
Healthwise gets its information from its library and from leaflets, journals and CD-ROMs. It can provide contact details for local support groups.
Doctors are helping to choose and translate information leaflets into Chinese. The Chinese Health Resources Fund was established to fund this project.
