IF Glenn Berkey (South China Morning Post, March 26) whom I presume is a North American ex-colonial and his ilk must continue in their quest for verbal respect from the local folk, the best of luck to them. It is after all not what you say but how you say it. To my dear father-in-law I am and will always be the gweilo in the family, not a number like the rest of them, for example, yee ga jei (second sister). In the meantime it might be useful if they were to learn a little Cantonese - sai yan: Westerner. Ngoi kwok yan: foreigner.
