THREE police constables appeared before Fanling Court yesterday afternoon accused of soliciting an $800,000 bribe from a defendant in a drug trafficking case in return for changing their testimony. Yeung Chi-chiu, 29, Fu Kam-wing, 24, and Chow Hon-ping, 23, are jointly charged with conspiring to solicit an advantage of $800,000 from Wong Wing-hung in return for deliberately failing to tell the whole truth when called to testify in the District Court. The three officers, who are attached to the New Territories region, are also jointly accused of conspiring with Wong to pervert the course of justice between January 4 and March 30 by agreeing to vary the testimony that Fu and Chow would otherwise give in order to exonerate Wong. Yeung and Fu are jointly charged with conspiring to accept an advantage of $50,000 from Wong. Magistrate Mr David Thomas ordered the defendants be remanded in ICAC custody until Thursday.
