Lexmark claims its Optra S 1855 is the first 1,200x1,200 dpi laser printer to have built-in fax and Chinese-language LCD display.
For a limited time, Lexmark is bundling the Optra S 1855 with an external Hayes 56-kilobit-per-second modem for $9,998.
Offering an 18-page-per-minute output, the Optra S 1855 is aimed at departments, small business or home use.
The Optra S 1855 also reduces the wait for the first page of a document, printing the first page within 10 seconds. The printer uses the TIFF SIMM format to print graphics faster.
Paper and envelope feed options are modular and easily can be added. They include a duplexer, an 85-envelope feeder and 250-sheet, 500-sheet and 2,000-sheet drawers.
Up to three stackable, 650-sheet output expanders can be added.
