Education officials have launched an investigation into a complaint that a kindergarten pupil was slapped in the face by his teacher. The four-year-old boy yesterday left the Lorraine Kindergarten in Yuen Long and the female teacher involved was suspended. A spokesman for the Education Department said that after contacting the school it had launched an investigation. 'The school will have to submit a report to us,' the spokesman said. 'It's not appropriate to comment on the case before the investigation is complete. But we would like to remind teachers and principals that corporal punishment is banned in schools.' Kindergarten director T. F. Wong said they were meeting students from the boy's class and parents to obtain more information. 'Initial investigations show the case might not be established. We have suspended the teacher and a final report should be ready in a week,' said Mr Wong.
