Schools in the urban areas are being invited to apply to the Provisional Urban Council for funds to promote and organise health education activities. A council spokesman said yesterday that the Health Education Activities in Schools Funding Scheme - first introduced in 1997 - aimed to encourage principals and teachers of primary and secondary schools to organise activities to raise students' awareness on health and hygiene. Last year, a total of about $200,000 was granted to 23 schools for organising such activities. Applicants whose proposals are successful will receive a grant up to a maximum of $10,000 each. The deadline is January 30. For further details, contact the Health Education Unit on 2867 5701 or 2867 5702.
