To celebrate the first anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China, the mainland has given the SAR an exciting collection of enormous presents. As the gifts - some weighing more than 2,000 kilograms - are so large, only 16 will be on display. Photographs will be used to exhibit the remainder of the gifts. The presents are fine examples of contemporary Chinese art and will be on display at Sha Tin Town Hall for about a month. The exhibition, entitled More than Gifts - Gifts from the Mainland to Commemorate Hong Kong's Return to China, will be held in the Town Hall's Exhibition Gallery from June 13 to 21. Another display in the foyer will run until July 15. Among the presents are porcelain vases, elaborate carvings, sculptures and precious rock crystals. The exhibition will be open to the public from 10 am to 8 pm daily and admission is free.
