SQUASH starlet Rebecca Chiu Wing-yin stunned the crowd in New Zealand with a resounding straight games victory over the number sixth seed in the Potaruru Under-21 Championship. The 14-year-old Jockey Club Ti-I College pupil confidently dispatched of Rachel Bahen, five years her senior, by 9-2, 9-5, 9-3 to reach the quarter-final. Chiu put up a brave fight in her next match but lost in four games to third-seeded Katrina Black, an 18-year-old who will be playing for New Zealand in the Junior World Championships later this year. Hongkong Squash Racquets Association development officer Jackie Yu Kwok-king, chaperone for Chiu on the two-week tour, was delighted with the youngster's performances. ''Rebecca captured the hearts of everybody who watched her play as she showed plenty of guts in both her matches,'' Yu said. ''She was a bit unfortunate not to have taken the third game against Black as she was 8-6 up and had several game points but let her opponent off the hook.''
